In controlled environments, it is essential to keep an accurate record of personnel ingress and egress. Access control systems are fundamental to physical security, managing access to specific areas through specialized hardware and software.
Access control systems are installed on doors and consist of mechanical and electronic components that identify whether a person is authorized to enter and, based on this, grant access. To implement these systems, it is necessary to ensure efficient interaction between software and hardware.
Key components of an access control network:
Controller
The brains of the system, responsible for communication between the various pieces of equipment and the supervising workstation.
Reader mechanism
Allows key entry, proximity card recognition or biometric parameters.
Power supply
Provides power to the system.
Software
Manages the set of devices and controls access.
Access control systems also require additional mechanical elements for opening and closing doors, such as electric, electromechanical or electromagnetic locks, which are generally not included in the system and must be provided separately.
These systems can be simple, controlling only one door, or complex, managing all the doors in a building or group of buildings. They can be interconnected with monitoring systems, CCTV, BMS and other facility security systems. The level of security varies according to needs, from a simple key or pin, to a proximity card, to biometric feature recognition such as fingerprint or retina, or combination of these features.
SURGE Ingeniería offers a wide range of access control systems from leading manufacturers worldwide. From basic solutions to advanced integrations, our systems ensure security and efficient control in any controlled environment.
